About Me

I was born in Jakarta on 15 August 1965. I studied Law, majoring in International Law at the Christian University of Indonesia (Universitas Kristen Indonesia). I graduated in 1992. I worked at The Ministry of Public Works (Departement Pekerjaan Umum) in one of the projects of The World Bank. I was a secretary to the Project Management Unit till I met Peter (my husband). We got married in Jakarta on 10th March 1995. Two weeks after the wedding I have to leave my family, friends, job and life in Jakarta for Holland. I must follow my husband. The first year was a terrible year for me because the weather is not so friendly to me. I hate cold!!! and most of all i don't have any family here. I was all alone and the worse thing is, i don't speak Dutch at that time. I went to school in September '95 for about one and half year just to learn the language. I took state examination for Dutch as a second language 1997 and got my diploma at the same year. It's very difficult to live in a strange country especially if don't speak the language. I live in two different cultures, until now i still have problem in ajusting myself with the culture in Holland.

My life in Holland
As a wife and a mother of one son, my days are already booked. I don't work here as I used to do in Indonesia. I often work as a parttime secretary in many different offices. I have my routine activity every day. It sounds boring!! Indeed!! but I try to enjoy it in some way. At this moment I work as a secretary at the Ministry of Agricultur, Bureau Heffingen. I started it in May 2002 and I work 24 hours a week. I love my job very much but 31 December 2002 is my last day.
